sacrificing self...

Black Hawk Down pt. 2

Another interesting part in this movie that I watched was a scene in which two snipers who were above in the air go down into the chaos to save a couple of fallen soldiers who had been shot down while they rode in a helicopter. The helicopter was shot down into an area of the town of Mogadishu in which the whole population was coming down on them trying to kill any members alive from the crash. These snipers went down know the cost, they knew that help was not going to come any time soon, the whole city was going to come down upon them and there were only two of them against hundreds.

"But God put his love on the line for us by offering his Son in sacrificial death while we were of no use whatever to him." Romans 5:8

Christ died for us even when we were completely useless, when we didnt deserve to be saved. Are you willing to do the same for those who you know are 'lost'? Are you willing to get into the craziest of situations knowing the full cost of the decision that you are making, knowing that there is death factor to save those who you know dont know the truth? Would I?

getting tired of war...

So I was watching Black Hawk Down the other day, really enjoyed it. And one of the themes I picked up while I watched the movie is something related to my walk with God.

These guys had been assembled from all different branches of the military for the sole purpose to capture the terrorist leader of Mogadishu who was causing genocide by withholding all food. But in the movie you can see that these guys have attempted several times and failed to capture the leader. Then you see them get another mission and then you see the scene where they all get prepared for the mission. You see them strap on their weapons, kevlar etc. But you notice they dont fully get prepared because this had become routine so they cut back on the water, ammo, supplies etc. Because they expected it to be another routine mission but it doesnt happen and they all get rocked hardcore.

How many time as Christians in the war that we face cut back on the things that we know we are supposed to be prepared with everyday? Because everything we do becomes so routine or dare I say "religious". We cut back on the our 'Living Water', our 'Ammo' and our 'Supplies' because we get into our little routine and dont truly appreciate the day that God has so willingly given us. We dont realize that the mission that God has given us everyday is deliberate and on purpose.

getting ready for more...

like a cup a tea...

711553_24416167
"What I'm trying to do here is get you to relax, not be so preoccupied with getting so you can respond to God's giving. People who don't know God and the way he works fuss over these things, but you know both God and how he works. Steep yourself in God-reality, God-initiative, God-provisions. You'll find all your everyday human concerns will be met. Don't be afraid of missing out. You're my dearest friends! The Father wants to give you the very kingdom itself." Luke 12:29-32 (The Message)

I found out the other day that if you truly want to get the real taste of the tea that Starbucks sells you must allow it to steep for atleast three minutes. Honestly I do not have the patience to let it sit there in the hot water for more than a minute I want to have my vanilla chai tea NOW!
But here we read in the word Jesus speaking about having everything in having nothing. It is so selfish of us to live this life of "FAITH" but not truly live in faith. The verses before the one I put Jesus speaks about how God even provides clothing and food for the ravens of the air and yet we as humans can get up in the wrong stuff. 'Dont be so preoccupied with getting, respond by giving' Give freely because God has given us freely the best treasure we can ever have. Steep yourself in God... truly think about that bask in his creation, his presence, his everything and soak up everything that he gives. Dont just get out when you think you are done rather wait till all the flavor is in your cup then GO! God wants to give you the kingdom! HIS KINGDOM! what else do we really need?

Gonna go steep some more in God...
